Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026.

This policy explains which personal data Maputo Blue collects through this website, why we use it and how you can exercise your rights.

Data we collect

  • Booking requests: name, e-mail, phone, country (optional), date, number of guests, selected options and special requests.
  • Custom tour requests: the contact details and travel preferences you provide.
  • Customer account: name, e-mail, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), optional phone and country.
  • Reviews: the name you enter, your rating and comment, which are shown publicly on the experience page.
  • Security: minimal technical records (for example, a hashed summary of your IP address) to prevent abuse and spam.

How we use it

  • To handle and confirm bookings, prepare quotations and contact you about your trip.
  • To send service e-mails (confirmations, changes, reminders). We do not send marketing without your consent.
  • To manage loyalty benefits linked to your account.
  • To meet legal and accounting obligations.

Sharing

Data is stored on Maputo Blue's servers. Service e-mails are delivered through an e-mail delivery provider. We only share with partners (for example, the lodge or boat operator) the information needed to deliver the service you booked.

Retention

We keep booking data for as long as needed to deliver the service and to meet legal and accounting obligations. Requests that did not become bookings and inactive accounts can be deleted on request.

Your rights

You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, or withdraw consent, by writing to maputoblue.info@gmail.com. You can update your profile at any time in your account.

Cookies

We only use technical cookies: a session cookie, needed to keep you signed in, and another that is created only if you start a Live Chat conversation, to bring that conversation back for 30 days. We do not use advertising cookies.

Live Chat

When you start a conversation, we store your name, e-mail, phone number (if you give it), the subject, the messages and the page of the website you are on, in order to assist you. Only the Maputo Blue team can access this data, which stays on our servers. If you are not on the website when we reply, we may send the reply to your e-mail. Closed conversations are deleted at the end of the period set by the company, currently 12 months.

Visit statistics

To improve the website, we anonymously record the pages visited, the time spent on each page, how far each page was scrolled, where the visit came from (for example, a search engine), the type of device and browser, and the position of clicks and the text of the buttons and links clicked. We do not use cookies or third-party services for this: the data stays on Maputo Blue's servers. A visitor is identified only by an encrypted code that changes every day, so they cannot be followed from one day to the next, and we never record what is typed into forms. Clicks are deleted after 6 months and the other statistics after 25 months. If your browser has "Do Not Track" / Global Privacy Control turned on, the visit is not recorded.
